Flow and Fire

Unusually both my wife and I had visions at the same time. Hers was of a mighty flowing river, but people only had straws to access it. Mine was about people being in a very dark place with only a glimmer of light from the corner. There was a strong desire to throw open whatever was blocking access to the light.

I then had the word that the light was like the sun and the darkness was like an eclipse - something was being place in front of the light. This was busyness, distraction, attacks and idols. Some idols could be the need for a life partner, the desire for wealth, concerns about money and other issues. It was also clear that the sun was completely and fully shining on us. Our worldly view may be that God is not giving us something, not healing, or not blessing us. However, this is really just us blaming a righteous God for our own distractions and the warfare of the enemy. This is because God is good all the time.

What, what would have become of me had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living! Ps. 27:13

So we can feel blocked or restricted because of something we have done or because of the actions of the enemy. Remember we are at war, right?

It is a battle: - “...The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen and dissolve) the works the devil (has done). 1 John 3: 8 (Amplified Bible)

We have an enemy: The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

We are in a fight: For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Eph. 6:12 NLT

We are overcomers: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; 2 Cor. 10:4

So we must do three things:

  1. Deal with any idols, distractions and sin that is keeping us from seeing and receiving the full light and power of God in our lives.

  2. Fight and destroy any work of the enemy that is restraining, holding back or blocking us.

  3. Repent for blaming God by attributing to God the work of satan or the fruit of our own sin - He is good all the time.

I also thought that these visions also highlight two key pictures used in the Bible to describe the anointing of God - Fire and Flow.

Fire Our vision is of the sun being the light and is a picture of the power of God in our lives. We need fire - the anointing power of God. Jesus held up the loaves and God provided the miracle. Elijah built up the altar and poured water on the sacrifice but it was God that provided the fire. We need that fire in our lives. Not just effort and will but anointing fire!

1 Cor. 3: 13-15 - each one’s work will be clearly shown for what it is; for the day of judgment will disclose it, because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality and character and worth of each person’s work. If any person’s work … remains and survives this test, he will receive a reward. But if any person’s work is burned up by the test, he will suffer the loss of his reward; yet he himself will be saved, but only as one who has barely escaped through fire.

“As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Matt. 3:11

Our work must be connected to and fashioned with Holy Spirit fire so that when it is tested by fire it will not be burned up. We need the fire, we need to fully reveal the light and become immersed in God's full on shining anointing.

Flow - We have the flow of the spirit in us:

He who believes in Me [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Me], as the Scripture has said, ‘From his innermost being will flow continually rivers of living water.’ John 7:38

‘For I will pour out water on the thirsty land

And streams on the dry ground;

I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring

And My blessing on your descendants; Is. 44:3

“It will come about after this

That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind;

And your sons and daughters will prophesy,

Your old men will dream dreams,

Your young men will see visions.

“Even on the male and female servants

I will pour out My Spirit in those days. Joel 2: 28-29

We need the flow of the Spirit to be poured on us and flow out from us. This activates the anointing of the Kingdom and allows us to WIN THESE SPIRITUAL BATTLES. As we abide in Him (John 15:4-7) we will hear His voice (John 10: 27-28) and not the voice of another and we will know what to do and what to say.

As never before we need to break through restrictions - instead of a straw we need to be immersed in the flow of the river of God's anointing. Instead of a little glimmer now and then we need to throw off the duvet, set aside the soother and distractions and be exposed to the full light of the fire of His Spirit.

Flow and fire - operating this way when we raise a righteous standard by making a declaration on earth it will resonate in heaven. It will also reveal the false peace and false unity we are seeing in Christians today - we are not called to have peace with darkness and those who are acting as "enemy agents". Unity is to be one with Jesus in His mission to destroy the works of satan. Works of bondage, slavery, sin, compromise and defilement. Our righteous standard is not the average of morality in a church community - it is what Jesus says about any issue. After all it is His Kingdom.

Be blessed as we press in to His flow and fire. Remember we are to live as overcomers and we have the victory! Let us walk in it today

But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor. 15:57
