Legless

I had a very strange dream three nights ago that I thought I would share with you and some of the follow up.

In my dream I was with my brother, a robust ex-rugby player and I had the idea that I would cut off our legs!! Remember it is a dream and the context and atmosphere is critical. This was not a nightmare, it was peaceful and pleasant. It was a good idea in the dream and it was a spiritual dream in which I just knew it was important to do this. So, I went ahead and cut off our legs between the hip and the knee and for good measure severed them again between the knee and the foot. I remember questioning in the dream how we would get back from where we were, now that I had done this? In the next scene we were walking up the steps into our destination. Obviously my leg-severing action had not hindered us reaching our destination.

Bizarre? I thought so, but I knew it was important so I began to pray into this and to ruminate on the possible meanings. I came to think that the dream had to do with cutting off and not relying on my own strength and mobility. Not just my own but also my family. The rugby player strength in thighs and legs was rendered useless. For this reason, I began to pray again into being led by the Spirit and to not move according to my own strength and fleshly desires. I want to ensure I arrive at my destiny destination. The Bible repeatedly requires us to seek the Lord as our first necessity or our vital and urgent necessity. In Zep. 1:6 there is judgement for "...those who have not sought the Lord nor inquired for, inquired of, and required the Lord as their first necessity...". Jesus also assured us that we can walk in His strength. "I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father" (John 14:12).

We need to abide in Him, walk with Him in His strength not ours and the Greater Works can be for us.

Of course it is important to show up and work. People that do important things had to show up first. However, it is important to show up abiding in the vine, reliant on His strength not ours and to be working towards the destination that God has desired for our destiny.

A few days after the dream I was praying about the 7000, destiny and some fairly important challenges we were facing. I went to the bible and opened it immediately to Psalm 147: 10-11:

"He delights not in the strength of the horse, nor does He take pleasure in the legs of a man. The Lord takes pleasure in those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy and loving-kindness." (emphasis added)

God led me directly to my dream scripture - the strength of our legs is not what we are to rely on. We are to seek Him as our vital and urgent necessity and worshipfully fear Him.

It also speaks about the requirement for us to have hope in His mercy and loving-kindness. Why is this important? The battle cry of the children of Israel is "THE MERCY AND LOVINGKINDNESS OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER".

In II Chron. 20:21, the singers led Jehoshaphat's army to a great God given victory with massive financial spoil. So much so that they renamed the place, The Valley of Beracah or The Valley of Blessing.

"...[Jehoshaphat] appointed singers to sing to the Lord and praise Him in their holy garments as they went out before the army, saying, Give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!"

The battle cry of the Children of Israel - and our battle cry - is to walk in His strength, relying on Him as our first and urgent necessity and worshiping with the battle cry that the mercy and loving-kindness of the Lord endures forever. Walking in His strength we will arrive safely at our God given destiny and, using the example of II Chron. this will include massive overcoming victory including financial blessing and spoil.
