It was a great pleasure to be invited to be one of the Prophetic Voices for 2020 on God TV. If you missed this you can catch it on Video on Demand www.god.tv/vod .
There was a real flow of the Spirit among those of us who shared, particularly, as we did not "compare notes" prior to filming. Our session started out with discussion of unity and oneness and then there was a strong focus on the fact that we are in a battle and our calling is a martial one - to destroy the work of satan and that one of our key weapons at this time is our tongues - what we say is important!
What I had to say was really burning in my spirit but the quote that stuck with me from the day was from Pastor Agu - essentially he said that one of the issues facing the church is that people think they are civilians and forget they are soldiers. Think about this - people are in a struggle for culture and forget that it is a battle against an enemy and that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal or natural. Christians are trying to appease and be more acceptable and "fit in" but this is not our calling. Don't get me wrong - we are not called to be obnoxious and contentious - being agreeable in the flesh and being contentious in the flesh are equally out of the will of God. We are called to join with Jesus in his mission to destroy the works of satan (1Jn 3:8) and to: "...proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair." Is 61
This tied in so well with the word I had that our tongues are like swords at this time and our words resonate outward from us like shockwaves carrying the blade of our declarations. Are we declaring victory and our destiny? Are we declaring freedom and liberty? Or are we like the bad spies who only declared what they saw with their natural senses (Numbers 13)? WHAT IS OUR PROCLAMATION?
We are not to proclaim the strength of the problem or the depth of the issues. We are to see and hear what God is saying and, acting in line with what we see and hear in the Spirit.
This raises the question of how do we actually see and hear - how do we keep seeing ourselves as Kingdom warrior ambassadors and keep hear what God is saying?
We must be like modern day Elijahs and this requires us to spend time in His presence and to seek Him as our vital and urgent necessity knowing that if we seek Him we will find Him and knowing also that we are His sheep and His sheep hear His voice and not the voice of another.
