("Army of God" - Hezbollah )
Last week, I felt the strong wind blowing in the Spirit. We had talked about the whirlwind of the Lord before, but this was different; it was a strong steady wind, and the word came to me that it was a "winnowing wind." I looked it up and here is what I found:
"This verse describes wind winnowing, the period's standard process for separating the wheat from the chaff. Ptyon, the word translated as winnowing fork in the World English Bible is a tool similar to a pitchfork that would be used to lift harvested wheat up into the air into the wind."
I think this is also what is happening in this season- we are being "lifted up" and exposed to the winnowing wind and there is a separation happening (see my last blog). The testing of winnowing is like the marking of Ezekiel 9 - there is a time of marking and separation which usually is just before judgment. This is happening to nations, regions, cities, families, relationships - essentially, every category is being exposed to separation. Truths are coming out, relationship problems are being brought to light, hidden motivations are being exposed and truth is visiting. Like the parable of the one talent, there is a time when the winnowing wind visits and truth with judgement is brought to the situation.
This winnowing wind is happening at the national level as countries and jurisdictions respond to the unprecedented terrorist attack against Israel. The US shook the nations in a massive global response to terror after 9/11, yet there were proportionally less victims than in Israel. The nature of the terror attacks in Israel are horrific with babies cooked in ovens, dismemberments, rape, torture, with over 200 people still held hostage. Intentional and well-planned war crimes were committed not seen since the Nazis . Where is the Jewish Lives Matters movement and the urgent war crimes tribunals at the Hague etc. The response around the world is a separating Ez 9:4 moment and people are aligning with their own destruction. Many are awakened by the enemy to care about what the enemy cares about -violence, anti-semitism etc. Yet people are responding with a "but", supporting and aligning with Hamas. Anti-semitism is rife and terrorists and their sympathisers are marching on the streets waving terrorist flags. Worse, ordinary people are angrily pulling down the pictures of civilians being held hostage.
The other word that came to me as a "word of the day" was: Ataraxy. I looked it up and its meaning includes "calmness untroubled by mental or emotional disquiet." This is the state of being undisturbed, empty, lethargic, unengaged, passive and unmoved. Isn't that what we are seeing in the church and what we have been shouting about as watchmen.
There is a spiritual wind pressing against us in this season - God to separate and the enemy to lull into a destructive sleep or worse to expose people whose alignment is not Godly.
